Purchasing/Costing Assistant
The Purchasing/Costing Assistant will provide help in the preparation of cost estimates for products and services for existing and potential customers. It will be your responsibility to analyze proposals and requirements in order to compile estimates by assessing material, labor and equipment required. This position will work proactively with the Estimation Manager on day to day costing activities as well as specific assigned project work.
Primary Duties
Identifies and quantify cost factors, such as time, materials and expenses etc.
Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Investigates and resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Assists in evaluating the profitability and viability of a product or service
Recommends cost-cutting methods were feasible to increase profitability
Actively participates in proposal preparation and client presentations (prepare tender documentation / estimates and any supporting documentation)
Fully understands the production processes, knowledge of raw material, quality control, machine functions and capabilities in order to maximize the effective manufacture of the end product
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Assists in maintaining cost data base
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
English, Spanish (preferable)
Bachelor's degree (mathematics, business, finance)
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written), dealing with individuals at all levels
High energy, with the ability to work in fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office (advanced excel), Microsoft Dynamics AX (preferred)
Good presentation skills
Self-motivated and committed individual
Strong work ethic with attention to detail
Excellent analytical skills, methodical approach and commercial acumen
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range $42k to $50k
